A Very Happy Thanksgiving

Our family had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
It was a relaxed, laid back day spent with loved ones, but it was a little bittersweet knowing it would be Jordan's last Thanksgiving with us.  But it made us all the more thankful to have everyone together and have her with us!

So we made a traditional Thanksgiving meal: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries, rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and did I mention mashed potatoes and gravy?  Hmm-hmmm good!

After the meal, we started up a game of Euchre.  It is our family's favorite card game, and we had just enough to start a Euchre tournament!

While Jordan was enjoying her last Thanksgiving with us, Clancy was experiencing his first!
(As promised, a picture with his new haircut....)

And every year, on the day after Thanksgiving, we go pick out a Christmas tree!

How about this one?!?
(Just kidding!)

After picking out our tree, we go for a wagon ride around the farm...

On the way home with our tree....

Decorated!
Although you can't really see the lights that well, there are quite a few on there!

  1. You know, ya'll can come up here and celebrate our thanksgiving with us in October, so it needn't be your last with Jordan!! Just her last one living with ya'll! But yes, bittersweet indeed... We promise to take good care of her, make sure she gets her fill of turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravy and cranberries and green stuff, and...and...and...

And what's with Christmas tree hunting in shirtsleeves? I mean seriously! Christmas tree hunting is so much more authentic when it's -20 C., with a wind chill factor of -30. It encourages you to not be as picky about your choice, inspires you to find a tree, any tree, maybe even just pick a 30 foot tree and cut the top and bottom off, leaving it up to your hubby to "re-shape" it into something resembling a tree, or not - as was the case a couple of years ago when our tree could best be described as a Christmas Ball. Then, when your cheeks, feet, and fingers are frostbitten, you come home and hunker around the woodstove, sipping hot chocolate for an hour trying to get the chill out, while you muster up the courage to go back outside to shape said tree, then drag it into the house. That, my friends, is what *real* Christmas tree gettin' is supposed to look like, not a stroll on a hot, summery day!

  3. You look a lot like your mom, Kelsey! (I never saw you directly beside her before.)
