White Unto Harvest Conference

This last weekend we attended the National Center for Family Integrated Churches (NCFIC) conference "White Unto Harvest" in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC.

 This year's topic was on missions, with men such as Paul Washer, Doug Phillips, Scott Brown, and Kevin Swanson coming in to speak.  I believe that this was my favorite conference thus far, maybe because this topic is near and dear to my heart.  It was a wonderful time of fellowship, meeting new families, catching up with old friends, and learning new things.  We always enjoy being around that many like-minded believers!  Not only does it lift ones heart, but it is also a little glimpse of what heaven must be like!  I didn't pull out my camera too much on this trip, but here is a little glimpse....

After the conference ended we spent Sunday afternoon at the local pizza place with the Yuck family and the Redman family!  They are both such sweet families and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them!

If you would like to see more pictures of the conference, visit the NCFIC website at
 Note: After a week or so, you may have to look in the October 2012 archives to view the pictures.

The Farm Animals

Our meat chicken pen

We buy Cornish Rock crosses.  This pictures was taken last week and they have doubled in size since then.  We will be butchering them within the next week or so.

Meet Malachi, our third generation Great Pyrenees guard dog.  He is so sweet and he does such a good job.  He followed me around the whole time I was taking pictures.

So photogenic!

And last but not least...Clancy!

Our Goats: The Milkers

This is Cotton.  We bought her last year from the same farm we bought the other Saanens from.  She is our best producer so far.

Sunshine!

Amber, our Alpine milker.

After adding all of those goats to our herd, we needed more hay rack space, so we added onto our existing one.

Right now we are in the middle of the second breeding season.  Our first babies should start kidding around mid January.  We are looking forward to all those babies!

Our Goats: The Toddlers

This summer we brought home three young Saanens from a farm in Virginia.  The owners brought them halfway to Asheville, NC where we picked them up!  This is a picture of Delaney.  The other two are Doby and Phoebe!

Judah...our young Alpine buckling!

Liberty, Cherish and Honour...our sweet little girls that we raised!

Zoe.
  Zoe is our half Nubian, half Saanen mix that we are trying.
We are looking forward to seeing how she milks!

 Rebekah is the black and Lily is the brown.  Lily was supposed to be a milker this year, but she never got bred.  Oh well, maybe this year!

More photos to come!

Our Goats: The New Saanens

I finally got around to posting pictures of our new Saanen does that we bought.  Another dairy farmer that we know was selling his whole herd, so we were blessed to get five of them that were from the same farm and all comfortable with each other.  There were two four years olds, and three two year olds.  They are quite the curious creatures and we are getting quite a kick out of them!
~~~~~
This is Flower (I believe!) who somehow got the gate of the hay rack opened and jumped in!
This is Albert on the left and Kimee on the right.  Kimee is "the boss"!  Albert is a full blooded Alpine buck who was thrown in on the deal when we bought the five Saanens!  He is a gem!
And he is so funny too!  He has the most expressive eyes and makes the funniest faces!
This is Bell...dear sweetheart!
This is Sugar....can you tell them apart yet?
This is Snowy!  She definitely has a mind of her own!
I don't quite trust turning my back on this one yet!
More photos to come!
Markets, Church Pictures, and Deer, Oh My!
On the last Saturday in September we attended the Herb Faire and sold our cheese, soaps and lotions.  (Was that already a month ago?!?  Time flies!)  So here are the few pictures that we took of that day!
These young men are a few of the team players for our church's unofficial football team.
Ethan and Noah love it!
Mom and Savannah at church...
Look what walked up our driveway a few weeks ago!  We were very surprised to see this deer walk right towards the dairy, stop, eat a little grass and then bound back down the driveway!  Our dog had just finished making his rounds when this deer ventured into the yard!  We took this picture of him from the house, because we didn't want to scare it away.
Baby Girl Yuck's Shower
This past Saturday, we held a virtual baby shower for Jordan and Caleb at our house via Skype.  It was the first time we've ever done a virtual shower, and I think it turned out fairly well.  (We did have two minor gliches where our internet cut out on us, but other than that...it went well!)
And what's a party without food?!?  It provided a good excuse to make some of our favorite snacks!  Even on Jordan's end up in Canada, the Yuck family put together a very nice tea party setting with delicious treats for the celebration!
Some of the decorations
Lemonade punch, our new favorite!
Each lady would stand in front of the Skype camera and read her card, and then open her present with Jordan and the Yuck ladies watching from the other end.  Technology is amazing!  What would we do without it!
A beautiful wreath/gift from our aunt and cousins!
The following photos were all taken by our dear sweet friend, Sarah Willard!
Thanks a bunch, Sarah!
(I can't quite figure out how to remove the white from the sides of the pictures, so you'll just have to bear with me!)
We truly had a blessed day filled with sweet fellowship with some of the most wonderful ladies I know!  Everyone brought such sweet gifts and we can't wait until Little Girl Yuck arrives and we can see her in those adorable outfits!  The Lord is so good!  Blessed be the name of the Lord!
